How do I backup/save conversations in Microsoft Teams?

Chat messages are stored in Exchange online, if you backup the mailboxes, you will be able to restore the conversations as well.

Would I be able to restore the chat messages/conversations back to MS Teams to where it orginaly was?

Nope, that's currently not possible. You will be able to restore them back to the teams group or personal mailbox.

What is it under when I look at a specific user?

What about the files sent in Teams? I think they are in OneDrive under "Files > Microsoft Teams Chat Files", yes?

Files should be stored in sharepoint. If you’re talking about 1on1 chats, it should be onedrive.
