Minimum permissions required to back up a site on SharePoint Online

Hi,

I am setting up my first Veeam backup for SharePoint Online. My company has strict requirement on implementing least privilege access. Per Veeam User Guide, SharePoint Service Administrator role is required. This seems to provide global admin access to all SharePoint sites which is rather broad. Is it possible to grant less permissions or better yet grant on per SharePoint Online site basis?

Our documentation lists the minimum permissions. For SharePoint, it's not possible to scope them or grant them per site.
