"we definately care about such stuff and therefor we will never ever store our customers credentials in an automated script! "

I second that. Storing customer credentials in scripts is a definitive no go for us as a service provider!

I don't know if it is specific to our tenant, but to get the newest Privat Channels i have to use -Template "TeamChannel#1"
Older ones, from I think july and earlyer, are still shown with -Template "TeamChannel#0"

Hi Markus,

It's a general change on the Microsoft side - private channel sites created after June 28, 2021, have the custom template ID TEAMCHANNEL#1, while the older ones remain on the TEAMCHANNEL#0.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Hey there,

I've received a request from a customer regarding the backup of private channels.
Are there any news about this for version 6? Or if that will be implemented soon?

@dasfliege;
It might not help with the MFA, but I'm kind of a scripting guy and I might have a solution for storing passwords "secure".
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to an external website here; so I'll give you this sentence you can look up: Secure Password with PowerShell: Encrypting Credentials

There are commands to export passwords encrypted in hashes and import them back to create PowerShell credentials.
As I mentioned; might help with the 'plain passwords in scripts' but not for the MFA.

Best regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,

For Teams, there're no changes to expect in v6. It's planned for future releases though.

Thanks!

[MERGED] Teams Private Channel Backup in 6.0

Post by tonyn »

With the release of 6.0 is there a supported way of backing up private channel data for teams?

I have Sharepoint backup touching some of these objects but I was more curious as a Teams specific backup.

Hi Tony

I have moved your question to this topic.

As far as I see, the same limitations are in place with Teams Backup Jobs for V6.
For now, you have to use Sharepoint Jobs to backup the files of a private channel.

Get-SPOSite -Template "TEAMCHANNEL#1" # latest template channels created after June 2021
Get-SPOSite -Template "TEAMCHANNEL#0" # initial template channels created before June 2021

Will it be possible to backup private channels in the future? Is Veeam in contact with Microsoft?
