Need to remove an item from backup set

A client has asked us to remove some SharePoint data from a site and folder, probably as a result of GDPR. This does not appear to be possible via the backup explorer. However, I did come across Get-VBOBackupItem which looked like it might be able to accomplish this. Any thoughts?

Unfortunately you cannot remove a specific file from the backup. You can only remove the entire SharePoint side from the backup repository with Remove-VBOEntityData.
