o365 backup
started reading about o365 backup as we're trialing with it now. Quite surprised to see it seems like Veeam o365 is an entirely stand-alone product which doesn't integrate with your existing environment. Is that really the case?

Veeam Backup for Office 365 is indeed a standalone product for now. This may change in the future. Which features are you looking for to integrate?
