Hi. I have three Office 365 E3 accounts that I want to backup and looking at the community edition.
I would install Veeam on a workstation and backup to an external drive.
I started reading through the setup guide and it looks straight forward but I have some questions.
1. When using Veeam, is it essentially read only? I want to make sure I cannot inadvertantly delete data from my accounts?
2. If I want to see or restore the backup do I use the separate app Veeam Explorer for Exchange?
3. When installed on a PC, does Veeam stay running on the background and will still run the backup tasks?
thanks,
Mike

Re: Office 365 Backup
Hi Mike,
1. Yes, Veeam backup for office 365 will only read and copy "Backup" the data without deleting/modifying the production office 365 data.
2. The Veeam office 365 Explorers are part of the installer package and will automatically open when you wish to restore. If required, you can manually install the explorers on a diff machine than the VBO server.
3. The VBO service will keep running as a background process and will still run the backup job(s) while the console is off.
I hope this help.

Re: Office 365 Backup
I notice you want to back up to an external drive. Be aware that VBO uses a live database and for performance, it is better to back up to an internal drive or object storage.
