Older mail showing - Retention only set for 5 Years

Hello!

We just started using O365, the backup and restores run well, however when we look at our backup repository location, we see folders and data in those folders going back 7 years, however we've only set 5 years of retention on the policy.

What would cause this to happen?

What is the retention type of the backup repository?
Item level Retention or snapshot-Based Retention?

With snapshot-Based Retention, this is expected.
