Post by Robvil »

Hi

Is the online archive mailbox also backup´ed up when a users primary mailbox is backup´ed up?
When i browse a users mailbox to restore items, i cannot see a specific archive mailbox.

Hi Robert,

Yes, it's possible to backup online archive mailbox. To do this you have to add archive mailbox to the job (like 'User - In-place Archive'). In case of "all mailboxes" job they will be archived automatically.

Hi, we have Hybrid Exchange configured. Our primary mailboxes live on-prem and our archive mailboxes are in the cloud. When I click to select mailboxes in Veeam O365 backup, nothing appears in the list other than the discovery mailbox. How do we back up our archive mailboxes? Have opened a case, will report back here.

Just heard back on this case and the developer has stated that the product cannot back up cloud archives that have on-prem mailboxes. Bummer.

John,

Correct. In the meantime I have talked with the developer also. We are looking into this to see if this is a scenario we can support in the future. Is this implementation something you foresee to keep or are you in the middle of a migration path? Just trying to understand if this is permanent (well, what is permanent in IT :-)) and why?

Feedback on this would be very much appreciated
Thanks

We're in the very early days of testing the waters with core systems in the cloud. We've just started moving archives into the cloud for a small number of test users.

Our intention is to stay with hybrid onprem for live mailbox, and cloud for the inplace/online archive feature for at least 18-24 months, until server/infrastructure refresh is due to be looked at.
Having backups of the archives during this period would be almost essential for us.
Has there been any dev progress on this scenario yet?

I can't give you any timeline but we have been looking into it for the future.

What timeline are you looking before you move the majority to the could?
