[Feature Request] - possibility to expand (change) retention policy for object storage repos with immutability

Post by DE&C »

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo36 ... tml?ver=70

"If you have extended your backup repository with object storage for which immutability was enabled, you cannot change the retention period."

We have the situation where the customer has set 1 year for the retention (object storage with immutability). Now he would like to go for 2 years.

It makes sense, that you can't change it to something shorter with immutability. But why not a longer retention?
  • Option 1) immutability 2 years only for the new objects (rentetion 2 years for all the objects)
  • option 2) immutability AND the retention will be set for all the existing and the new objects to 2 years->prefered
I'm aware that with the option2 there will be additional cost for the API-calls

Hey @DE&C

We are working on something for new repositories in our next release that will allow changes in this (obviously with limitations, only extend, going lower will not be allowed :-)).

For now, this will be on new object repositories but we are already thinking and working towards "migration scenario's" to allow data from 1 repository with X settings to another repository with Y settings

@Mike Resseler: Any information on this ? :)

We have 3 customers that have set x years (with immutability) but now want to extend the duration to x+n years.
