Update October 2024: Microsoft is rolling out a change that will make it possible to back up SharePoint Web Parts without needing to modify export mode settings. An upcoming build of Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 version 8 will automatically honor this for updated M365 tenants. In the future, the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 setting to enable export mode for SharePoint Web Parts will be deprecated.
I'm looking for a couple clarifications (and for that KB to be updated with new information, if any exists):
1.) Where did Microsoft post this message about making this change to SharePoint for Web Parts backups? Is it MC911622 (https://mc.merill.net/message/MC911622)? If so, can this be included in the KB?
2.) I haven't seen Web Parts mentioned in any of the VBM365 updates that have occurred since MC911622, is the fix mentioned in the KB still upcoming?
The change on the Microsoft side has been made, but it's not related to MC911622, and AFAIK, it has not been published in any other article so far.
Technically, you can already ignore the export mode check box in VB365 and protect SharePoint Online out of the box. We plan to update our KBs and documentation accordingly after the holidays.
Thank you Polina! I found the checkbox in question under Organization, I was looking under the job, that's why I wasn't seeing it. I should be good to go then.
