Service provider setup
I’m wondering the reasons the setup guides say for service providers that the VBO and the VBR software are to be installed on the same system ? Also for my testing i backup o365 to a local VR server . Is the best way to get this to say an azure blob to then back up the VBO repository using VBR to azure ? If so will this work with both the VBO and VBR on the same server ?

Re: Service provider setup
If you use VBR cloud connect, VBO can benefit from this. That’s what the section in the user guide explains. Other ways of using VBO as a service is by using the API and build a self-service portal for example.
If you want to have a copy of your data to Azure Blob then you are correct. You can use VBR to back up the VM running VBO to Azure Blob using a scale-out backup repository.

Re: Service provider setup
So as my VBO & VBR(cloud connect) are on the same server. Will I therefore need to add a back up agent to this server and then back it up via another VBR server that ships the VBO repository of to Azure ?

Re: Service provider setup
That would be the best option. You can always back up directly to object storage from within VBO.
If you plan to provide it as a service, it may be more interesting to use object storage compared it local storage.
