Sharepoint throttling issue

we have backups configured (one backup per letter) for sharepoint using Veeam best practices guide; howevr still seeing a lot of throtteling
Some jobs have been running for last 7 days
total number of lines containing too many request 107698
Support has advised to reduce the number of threads per proxy; we also run exchange and one drive jobs which do not have any throtelling issue
what are the current best practices we only use modern auth and using multiple apps is against best practice 07318490

Hi Rajeev,

Is this an initial backup? In that case I would advise to use 2 apps instead of only one, and indeed reduce the number of threads. The more threads, the more we can "query" SPO at the same time but that can indeed result in the throttling.

just on to this after the initial backups should we be seeing no more throtteling as it appears the additonal app is only recommended during the intial full backup . we have 2 envrioments, one only backs up around 40K users only Office 365 Exchange and Onedrive and another smaller one backsup SP, Exchange and OneDrive(4K users). The former has 7 proxies and this new one has 2 proxies however I am noticing huge diffrence in backup speed both the platform are in Azure

What should be the normal speed/throughput like and does throtteling of sharepoint will have an impact on Exchange and OneDrive jobs as well ... both the evnrioments are in Azure is there something that I should monitor or if we are following the BP guide for backup processing and jobs are not completing overnight; we should just raise it with Veeam

For example the old envrioment seem to be processing 41 items a sec and the new envrioment does not seem to be doing that great

also, I am not sure what should be the next step; the initial backup was complete but we still see throttling and performance is really poor. shall I raise it with MS support? this is only affecting SP and Onedrive however all the jobs are getting impacted even exchange

I have also logged this case with Microsoft support, and they provided me with this link before closing the ticket, as there was nothing further they could do.
