Some users not visible when creating a backup job
Ticket ID: 04635209
HI everyone,
i know that during the pandemic support times may be slower, but maybe someone encountered this error before.
2 of the users are not visible when i create a new backup job, the rest is working fine. I checked the users in our MS tennant, but there seems to be nothing abnormal.
Anyone got a clue?
Cheers!

Oliver,
Did you created the users, and then jumped to VBO? Sometimes it takes time before they are "activated". If they already existed for a while, what type of users are they? Normal email users?

Hi Mike,
no, our tennant is running for over 2 weeks now.
One is a normal user, the other one a global admin. The funny thing is, this seems to only affect version 5 of VBO, i tried several reinstalls and once accidentally installed version 4. There all users are visible and can be included in the backup.

That's weird. Keep working with support so they can identify what's wrong.

Oliver,
Just to be sure: they're not guest users, correct?

Hi, I am seeing the same issue. Some users not visible in the select list. Old tenant, been around years, just trying out v5 now. Please share the solution if you find one.

Sami,
To share the solution, we need to understand the details and identify the root cause. Do you have a support case on this issue?

Re: Some users not visible when creating a backup job
No i have not opened a case, but i was able to resolve it myself. In my case the usertype attribute was missing from some users in azureAD. I set the attribute and now the user is visible.
HowTo:
list users users and UserType attribute:
get-azureAdUser |select UserPrincipalName, Usertype
if the UserType attribute is empty for a user not showing up in veeam, set it with:
Set-MsolUser -UserPrincipalName username@contoso.onmicrosoft.com -UserType Member
