Stop a Move-VBOEntityData job

Post by PeterRolf »

Hello,

Does anyone know how to stop a running ‘Move-VBOEntityData’ job? In the VBO console, it appears that the ‘Stop’ button in the jobs ‘running’ pane is disabled for ‘Move’ type jobs.

We are in the process of migrating 1,500 archive mailboxes from a Windows style repo to as S3 repo. All but 3 archives were migrated successfully. However, three ‘move’ jobs are still running and are now at 185 hours duration. Zero bytes and zero items processed.

Re-running the command: Get-VBOEntityData -Type User -Repository $fromRepo | Where-Object {$_.IsArchiveBackedUp -eq $True} returns ZERO archive mailboxes in the source repo.

I confirmed that the three user mail archives in question did not contain any items.

Support case is 05738629

Thanks, Peter

Hi Peter

I suggest keep working with our support team.
Even if all items were already copied, there could be additional tasks hanging in the background. Our support should be able to check with the logs if the move process is finished and if you can cancel the process by a hard stop (stopping service/booting machine).

Thanks

Hi Fabian, unfortunately support was not to supply a more elegant solution other than server stop/reboot. Generally a service stop is not something easy to do in our environment. Once we found a window where no backups/recoveries were running on that proxy, a reboot did remove the orphaned jobs. Peter
