Teams 1:1 conversations
Good day,
Up until recently my O365 backups does not save the latest 1:1 messages in Teams between me and my colleagues. The last date this worked properly was on the 5th of October 2020, so just a few days ago.
Was there a change on the API or backend that needs to be made? I use legacy authentication and regular inbox backups occur correctly.
Any advice on this would be welcome.

I am having the same problem which started on October 5th as stated above. Is there a solution we can apply?

Re: Teams 1:1 conversations
We actually see the same in our labs. Sync time for archiving Teams messages has significantly increased, which potentially means some changes on the Microsoft side. We've already reached out to Microsoft to figure out what's the root cause, and I'll keep you posted on the updates.

@Bendios No update I am afraid. We are noticing the same still up to today. We also have not received a reason from Microsoft.

Correct, we discovered this last night, and our teams are testing and estimating the impact as we speak.

OK, thanks.
Let's hope that there is a simple solution for the developers without too many restrictions.

@Mildur Too soon to tell at the moment, especially since the folder now is off the systems data, and not the typical folder under the root structure. But yeah, fingers crossed

@Bendios
This will be fixed in the GA of version 5. We are building the logic as we speak, and it should be OK. There is a bit of a challenge as we know that the data will be moved from the old to the new location, but we don't know when. So we need to take that into account

Re: Teams 1:1 conversations
Yesterday, they told us in the veeam live event 2020, VBO 365 v5 will be released next month.
But this date can always be changed if there are some problems in the testing.

Re: Teams 1:1 conversations
@Mildur is correct. Working on it as fast as we can, but considering the issue we had with Teams, and also the issue where there is a change in public folders by MFST... Let's keep our fingers crossed

Re: Teams 1:1 conversations
Is there any kind of public announcement available on this limitation? We just stumbled on this via support ticket after attempt to restore teams chat failed.

Re: Teams 1:1 conversations
@Microid
Can you elaborate a bit more on your restore scenario, given that a team chat cannot be restored directly from Veeam Explorer back to the Teams app (and this has been always been present)?
@Mildur
I'm afraid, there's still no official statement from Microsoft we could refer to.

@Polina
I'm referring to the fact your support sent us "Version 4c currently doesn't support the backup of Team Chats" and therefore cannot be restored.

Re: Teams 1:1 conversations
Hello everyone,
I need to hook up on this topic. We've just had a ticket requesting to restore anything possible for one user. When checking this user's backup I was a able to restore their OneDrive and e-mails, but unfortunately not a single Teams chat message was backed up. I did some investigation and found out that no Teams chat message of ANY user was backed up. The "conversation" folder is empty for ALL of our users. How can this be?

@Stibo Microsoft made changes under the hood and this is the result. As mentioned in the topic, it will be resolved in the next build (v5).

@niels: I understood this, but does this mean that ALL previous backups are now rendered useless as well?

The old backups are fine. Chat messages are there and you can export them as pst.

Re: Teams 1:1 conversations
Okay, then something is very wrong with our backup since I don't see any backed-up message under Conversation/Teams Chat on any user I checked it on. Should I open a case at Veeam or do you guys have an idea what I could do here?

Stibo,
If exploring older restore points doesn't give you any results, then please create a support ticket and post its ID to this thread for followup.
Thanks!

Polina, you are a life saver! Selecting an older restoire point did the trick, I was able to browse and restore Teams messages. Thanks for your input and help!

Hi Carlos, there is no official date yet but I can say that we are getting close to a release that solves this problem. Once available, we'll update this thread.

Are you planning to use "Microsoft Teams Export APIs"?
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/micros ... ms-content
This API needs one of the following licenses:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/teams-licenses
Office 365 E5
Office 365 A5
Microsoft 365 E5
Microsoft 365 A5
Microsoft 365 A5 Information Protection und Governance
Office 365 Advanced Compliance
And the prerequisites gives me a headache for VBO365 in a service provider environment
