Upgrading Veeam for o365

Post by JamesMcG »

So I have an instance of Veeam for Office 365 running on version 3. When I try to upgrade it to 4 the installer runs fine, till desktop shortcut creation. I get an access denied error when the installer tries to create shortcuts in C:\Users\Public\Desktop. No choice but to cancel, which does NOT roll back the upgrade. Instead I'm left with a broken state, neither version seem to exist on the system at this point. I was able to restore from a VM backup in Veeam regular. Would be great if I was prompted to create shortcuts like almost all software installers...

Stupidity of this aside, any ideas on how I can get this upgrade done?

Are you running the setup as an administrator?

I'm logged in as an administrative user yes. However the upgrade was triggered from the Veeam console suggesting the upgrade. I don't know if it's executing as an admin or not, I'm not prompted etc.

Normally you should be an admin then and it should be fine. Could you open a support case and let us know the ID for assistance?
