VBO 3.0 - Move backups to new repository without losing the full backup
I want to move 300 GB to a new repository but if i do it manually it tries to start a new full backup after changing it on the backup job manually.
Is there an official procedure to acomplish this but preserving the chain?
Thanks!

You can do this via PowerShell by using Move-VBOEntityData.

Leandro,
A full backup is always performed when you move the repository data to a new location and associate the new repository with an existing job. The job "scans" items, but all the previous restore points will be preserved and accessible after this full run. And you can simply move the folders with backup databases from one repository to another.
I'd suggest your first trying this on some test job and test repository with a small amount of data to ensure that everything goes smoothly.

Hi Polina,
Oh so it will take plenty of time to read all the information and then and incremental backup will be done right?

It will take time because the job will be checking each of the items inside the database, though it anyways should take less than you would expect with a regular full. The next run will be incremental, as normal.

Good to know that VBO works like that now i know why the processing rate during the scan is 0, because it is reading from the database.
Guess i will have to wait.
Thanks you very much.
