VBO Configuration DB Backup

Hi,

Relatively new to Veeam Backup for Office365, and I have it deployed to a VM in Azure backing up our O365 content. I've been looking at how to backup the configuration database and I have spoken to Veeam support and they tell me it's not supported in VBO (it's only available in VBR).

Can anyone else confirm if this is the case, and do others rely on full VM backups as an alternative?

There isn't a "Export Config Backup"-Button in the software.

We are doing full backups of the vbo365 vm. There is a vss writer on the system to create a consistent backup of all relevant vbo365 data and configs on the vm/server. You can use Veeam Agent or Veeam VM Image Backup.

This VSS writer ensures application consistent backups of the VBO infrastructure components. Even while the VBO Server and Proxies are running backup and restore jobs of Office 365 data. Protecting a VBO deployment with Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) offers the following advantages:

- Ensures swift VBO components restores (ConfigDB, ProxyDB and associated files)
- Performs granular item restores from local repositories in the backup using Veeam Explorers available on the VBR Server (Veeam Backup and Replication 9.5 Update 4 and higher)
- Offload the backup data to an alternative location like Tape.

Hi all,

My customer will reinstall windows OS, then reinstall VBO 365, and the backup job setting is select some user to backup rather than entire organization, so Veeam B&R can backup configuration and it is very useful, but in VBO 365 seems not find this.

I reconnect o365 tenent and remap backup repository which is not difficult, but when the backup job is select some user and many users, then it has some difficult.

I just would like to know if it has no backup configuration in VBO 365 or I just cannot find this function in VBO 365?

Hi @j2wong,

There's no direct functionality that provides configuration backups in VBO at the moment, but you might consider following Mildur's approach.
Perhaps, you might also be interested in this KB article that describes the migration of a VBO instance.

Eventually, it'll come; will it be vNext or vNext+1 can't say yet.

One of the our customer is asking for any reference, such as a Feature Request ID or Release Note, to monitor the progress and tentative release date of this feature in the upcoming version.
