VBO in auzre how to cost save

Post by rtheseeker »

we are running VBO in azure and all the proxies; is it possible to use some sort of script so that VBR shuts down the proxies that are not in use after the backup job finishes or if somone triggers a restore. At the moment keeping multiple proxies all the time costs a lot; I know there is a way to achieve auto shutdown option in Azure however not use if Veeam Backup for Office 365 can send some sort of trigger when a job completes or starts which can power on the required proxy; has anyone done this; how are other people managing VBO in Azure (VBO and proxies are in azure)

Hello,
I am not aware of any pre/post functionality in VB365, but certainly you can do it differently.

Have a PowerShell script, scheduled with your frequency of protection, and there add the azcli needed to boot up the proxies, and then wait 5 minutes until the VB365 job starts which you can trigger as well with the VB365 powershell cmdlets.

For restores, same, you should have a script on the desktop to initiate the proxies, something you click and go, and another to suth them down.

Not ideal, but it should work.
