Hi team,
I want to backup through a security group as I don't want to backup all the users in the organization. According to VBO365's best practices, they recommend separating the data types (Exchange-Archive, OneDrive, Sharepoint-Teams) into different repositories.
My current configuration is:
One job -> Security Group -> Members -> Mail, Archive.
One job -> Security Group -> Members -> OneDrive.
One job -> Security Group -> Members -> Site.
My question are about the licenses. Do Sharepoint and Teams consume licenses? By configuration:
One job -> Security Group -> Members -> Mail, Archive.
One job -> Security Group -> Members -> OneDrive.
One job -> Entire Organization -> Sites and Teams.
Thanks,
Best regards.

Re: VBO365 - Best Practices - Configure Backup Jobs
Hi Scrat
You have to license each internal user which was granted to a SharePoint site or Teams.
Example:
Your company has 500 internal accounts with M365 licenses.
- You backup mailboxes of 100 users.
- You backup a SharePoint Site or Teams, which all 500 accounts were granted access.
You need to license all 500 accounts.
We have documented this requirement in the user guide:

Thanks
Fabian

Re: VBO365 - Best Practices - Configure Backup Jobs
Hi Fabian!
Thanks for the quick answer. So, if I have a Site/Teams accessed by 100 users... do I need to license all 100 users?
I was thinking of configure a job with all the Sites/Teams in the organization, but I can see that this is not possible if not all users are licensed.
Thanks,
Regards.

Re: VBO365 - Best Practices - Configure Backup Jobs
You're welcome.
To answer your question, to be compliant with our license policy, each of this 100 users must be licensed.
Technically it's possible to backup the teams/site with fewer licenses, because we won't increase the license count, if the users personal data is not protected. But it will be against our license policy.
Thanks
Fabian
