VBO365 customer offboarding
Hello,
I am currently looking for a way to improve the offboarding process. As far as I know the only way to do this without taking the proxy service down is to use the kb3067 script. This does use up resources on the backup server though and that slows down the backup jobs which are scheduled to run. Does anyone have a recommendation for a faster way to move organization backup data out of VBO so customers can keep their data when offboarding?

Hey,
With the script in KB3067 you will move data from one repository to another. But is that the goal of the offboarding process? How do you have to deliver the data to the customer?

The idea is to move the data to another repository which can be disconnected from the original server and connected to another server. Is there a better way to do the offboarding process?

Re: VBO365 customer offboarding
For future designs, i recommend to use dedicated backup repos for each organization and data type.
That‘s the easiest way for you as a service provider.
If you move out the backup data of an organization, you wont get back the space on the disk. You can‘t delete the backup databases either, because they are in use from other organizations.
For the offboarding process, if you need all backups (snapshot based repo), you need to use the move command/script. This will not work, if you have used object storage backup repo.
If only the current state is needed, you can export mailboxes to pst for the customer or export the sharepoint files to a usb disk.

Re: VBO365 customer offboarding
Our design does use separate repos for each organization and data type. The problem is if I want to move the data from that repo, I would have to stop the proxy service which would mean none of the other jobs going to repos on that proxy would be able to run. Unless we provision a separate proxy server and repository for each organization, there doesn't seem to be a better way other than using the script. But if someone else has figured a way around this, I'd love to hear about it. Export to PST is an option but only for one restore point. I'm looking for a solution which would allow all restore points to be available after offboarding.

Re: VBO365 customer offboarding
If you remove the backup repo from vbo365, the backup files/db will not be deleted.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo36 ... tml?ver=50
1) Remove Backup Jobs from your vbo365
2) Remove Backup Repo from your vbo365
3) Copy the files to the Customer
4) Add the same organization on the new vbo365 server
5) Add the old Backup Files as a new Backup Repo on the new vbo365 server
6) you should be able todo a restore now
This procedure doesn‘t need any service to stop.
Try that with a test repo. I‘m pretty sure, that this could work. But I can‘t it right now.

You could try that (with a test repo first!):When removing a backup repository, backup files that reside in such a repository will not be removed.
