Does the Veeam.Archiver.Proxy.exe process just take as much memory as it can get hold of?

I have just doubled the RAM in my VBM365 server because of issues due to memory and this process again is taking around 80% of the total RAM.

Is there any way to limit the memory this process uses?

Hi Christian,

Yes, by design, proxy consumes almost as much as it can get; and you cannot limit it.

Are you using a dedicated host for a proxy, or does it co-exist with other workloads?

I have a single dedicated server (VM) that is self contained for VBO365, handles all roles and performs no other tasks.

Which mentions:

"In v4, the default configuration is to allocate up to 50% of the available RAM for JET cache, which is documented here: https://vbo.veeambp.com/guide/design/ma ... #fnref:2:1

You can set a hard limit on the cache use by modifying the following in C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup365\Proxy.xml

But I decided not to go down that route.

Which prompted me to configure the anti-virus exclusions (I use simple Windows Defender) and since putting the exceptions in place the memory usage has dropped quite and bit and my throughput has increased.

So overall, I'm not too concerned about the memory use of this process, but thank you for replying.
