Veeam Explorer Credential

Post by PeterTran » 1 person likes this post

Hi all,

I'm looking for a way put credential when open explorer for exchange/sharepoint/onedrive. Right now Veeam Backup 365 and Explorer using same admin - local account. Is there any way to set Backup and Explorer login by seperate account? (The idea is the one doing backup cannot do restore) Please help :(

This isn’t possible at the moment unless you are leveraging backups stored at a service provider via Veeam Cloud Connect. You can however login via the REST api with the login for the organization and do restores (can’t make backup jobs/repositories).

A basic webservice example which does this can be found on my GitHub. Not sure if this can assist you though.

Hi Niel,

Thanks for your response. Just few questions about the self-service portal, if I misunderstand anything:
1. It will connect to server of VBO365 and its repository, then show the backup which are already there, right? VBO365 server need to config anything besides open port for connection?
2. The backup can be done on portal? or only restoration
3. How do we create user login to portal which only right to restore their own stuff?

Thanks again Niel

Hi Peter,

1) All you have to do is enable the RESTful service and open up that port so the portal can connect. The portal can run on Windows (IIS) and Linux (Apache).
2) Only restores.
3) This is not possible, it only works with the account used in the setup. It allows you to log in with the account you used when adding the organization within the product and perform restores.

I do understand your request where you want anybody to log in and just see his or her mailbox/account. This isn't possible with the example portal.

Thanks Niel, seem like I cant use this portal right now, although it's very useful. Hope Veeam will add another layer credential in next updates, it's a very useful feature for security. Good day man.
