Our backup infrastructure is the following:
Exchange Backup Repository offloaded to Azure Object Storage
SharePoint Backup Repository offloaded to Azure Object storage Repository
One Drive Backup Repository offloaded to Azure Object Storage Repository
At what point during a restore session will Veeam connect to the Azure Object Storage Repository. We noticed some network activity when running a search in the Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Sharepoint. We thought that Veeam uses the persistent cache in Veeam Explorer and will only connect to the Backup Repository or the Object Storage Repository when Restoring or Copying files.
Thanks

Re: Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Sharepoint and Azure Object Storage Repository
The cache is explained in the user guide. It will load the tree but when u do a search or restore, it will connect to the Object Storage and perform the needed actions (reading data).
