Veeam M365 Market Place Issue

Post by tkutil »

We are testing Veeam 365 and recently used the Veeam 365 server in Azure using the Veeam 365 server from the Azure Marketplace. This server comes with the Veeam 365 software already installed and found that somehow it is tied to the workgroup name of the server because once we joined the server to the domain veeam365 would not work.
Has anyone had any experience with using the Marketplace Azure VM with the preloaded Veeam365 and experienced this same behavior?
How did you fix it?

Thanks!

Hi Troy

Unfortunately it‘s not possible to change a hostname or domain without a configuration reset.

You can follow option 2 in the following kb article:
https://www.veeam.com/kb4296
Option 2: Reset Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 Configuration

If you re-add the same repositories again with the same job configuration, the next backup run will be an incremental.

Best,

Troy,

The marketplace image is more intended for POC's / testing or smaller organizations. If you want it fully integrated into your domain, we suggest that you spinup a VM in Azure with the right specifications, tailor it to your security and domain needs and then install manually VB365 on it.
