Hello all,
Is backing up a veeam backup job through dsmISI (3rd party load balancer - crazy expensive) against 4 isilon nodes the same or comparable in performance if I take that one backup job and split that into 4 smaller jobs to the 4 nodes SOBR repo since it load balances the connections?
For ex.
All Mailbox user backup job --> dsmISI--> isilon
....
Smaller Mailbox user backup job01 --> isilon
Smaller Mailbox user backup job02 --> isilon
Smaller Mailbox user backup job03 --> isilon
Smaller Mailbox user backup job04 --> isilon
Also what are your thoughts on using S3 object storage on the Isilon as a backup target? Any gotchas for using to backup M365, mailboxes, one drive, teams, SharePoint..
Thanks.

Re: Veeam with Isilon SOBR
Hello Max,
Can you please clarify what job (or product) you are referring to? Is that Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 to an SOBR created from Isilon nodes? Thank you for clarification!

Re: Veeam with Isilon SOBR
Hi Max
We have moved your topic to our Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 (VB365).
A SOBR (scale out backup repository) is a feature from our other product, Veeam Backup & Replication. But in VB365, we don't have a concept such as a SOBR.
I understand the Dell EMC PowerScale (Isilon) as a clustered NAS appliance, multiple Nodes (3 or more) connected to each other. The clustered fileshare can be accessed by a SMB endpoint. Backups written to one node's SMB share will be automatically distributed to all other nodes? Please let me know if I'm wrong.
Please consider my answer in your other Topic. This storage appliance is not optimized for VB365 workloads. S3 is too limited because of the max amount of objects on this appliance. And SMB only has experimental support.
Best,
Fabian
