Wasabi Cloud Sync Manager and Veeam for M365

Post by joern.schonhoff »

Hi,

I am looking for a way to keep another copy of our M365 data. Our first backup is already stored in Wasabi S3 storage.
Since Veeam for M365 only supports Azure Blob Storage Archive, Amazon S3 Glacier, or Amazon S3 Glacier Deep Archive as storage for copy jobs (as stated here I thought about using S3 bucket replication, but S3 Bucket Replication is not supported by Wasabi (more here).
A little google search later I found Wasabi Cloud Sync Manager. In the forum I found this thread about wcsm, where veremin and chrisWasabi state wcsm does not work when using immutability, which is no problem in Veeam for M365.

tl;dr: Are there any known Problems when using wcsm for syncing M365 data from on bucket (in region A) to another bucket (in region B)?

Hi Joern

I believe it could work, but needs to be tested first (but still unsupported by us).

It will not protect you against a ransomware attack of course. If someone deletes all objects from the first bucket, then this bucket state will be transferred to the target bucket too. I don‘t know how often the replica occurs, but I assume, you won‘t find out until it‘s too late.
