Concepts for backup copy

Post by chrisflyckelen »

Hello guys,

i just searched around for threads discussing concepts for a implementing a backup copy with VBAZ.
One idea on my mind is to run the backup policy -let's say twice a day- targeting to different backup repositories.

Maybe there are different opportunities to implement such a solution. What are your thoughts?

Greetings,
Chris

Btw. Is there are feature request for a backup copy available?

You can use Veeam Backup & Replication to do backup copy jobs to anywhere if you use that and go even out of Azure if wanted.

Within VBA, you can use multiple repositories per schedule but a backup copy job isn’t available in the product yet.

Where would you like to copy the data to? Just another region/storage account?

Hi Niels,

yes, that's right. The reason is to fit the 3-2-1 rule by copying the backups to another object storage.
Is possible to create an Azure IaaS job which copies to a S3 compatible storage?

Is a backup copy feature on the roadmap for future versions?

Greetings,
Chris

With Veeam B&R you can do that, not sure if that's possible within the native Azure portal.

Not for the short-term future, but thanks for your FR.

Thanks!

Is there also something possible regarding the block size and the copy job? We have the Large blocks requirement but for now i think its not possible to set this in the copy job or on the azure job side right?
