How does the backup process works for Veeam backup for Azure ?

How does the Veeam Azure VM backup works.
does it take the Azure VM snapshot, and then backup the Azure VM snapshot, and then delete it, just like the OnPremise VDDK backup works?

The process is documented in our user guide:

In short:
- We create cloud-native snapshots of your Azure VM
- If you enable image level backup in the backup policy, we will deploy worker VMs. Those worker VMs will attach the cloud-native snapshot and read it's content. The data then will be transferred to a backup repository on Azure Blob and stored in Veeam's native backup format.
