INFO ABOUT BACKUP VM AND AZURE SQL TO ON PREM

Post by rotolo »

Hello all,
I have an enterprise with Azure Hybrid Cloud (ASA 5505 s2s)
They have 2 local Syneto on prem with 15 VMS and 20 Azure VMS and 40 Azure SQL Istances.
They have too a local QNAP and after migration they have lot of space left.
Too i have some space left on Syneto after lot VM / services migrated to Azure (vApps, SQL Istances, Azure VMS)
Forgetting about the correct sizing of infrastructure (this will be analized later) i need to know:

- With Veeam for Azure im able to manage the backup of Azure SQL Istances?
- With Veeam for Azure i can Backup Azure VMS / Azure SQL Istances to on-prem QNAP? (can be good too a backup copy)
- With Veeam B&R 11 VM on local Syneto, i can backup Azure SQL Istances and Azure VMS?I think VM yes with Veeam Agent, dunno if im able to interact directly with Azure Hyper-V to avoid agents
- With Veeam B&R 11 VM on local Syneto, i can do a replica of Azure VMS to Syneto ESXI? (think not FOR Hyper-V <-> ESXI but wanna be sure)

Thank you for any answer and apologize me if it is the wrong section to ask.

1. Veeam Backup for Azure currently doesn’t support Azure SQL but it is on our roadmap to release soon.
2. You can integrate Veeam Backup for Azure with Veeam Backup & Replication and make a copy to your QNAP.
3. Same here, Azure VM is possible but Azure SQL is not. I recommend to use Veeam Backup for Azure instead of agents.
4. If you have enabled the integration, you will be able to restore backups to your ESXi or Hyper-V. There is no replication feature however.

If Azure SQL is on the roadmap, does this mean that App Services are also on the roadmap being released soon? 🤞🤞

Azure app services is a whole other service and currently isn’t on our short term roadmap. Would be great if u could provide more information about how you use it to understand the exact needs.

Hello,

We have around 10 Azure virtual machines in Azure , two of the virutal machines are domain controller.

I need know can we backup Azure virtual machine to on-premises (local storage) using veeam and can we restore them from backup and also replication does contiounsly.

If yes please let me know how we can achieve this i mean which licenses are we used .

I did some search on google did not found proper information regarding backup Azure VMs to local storage.

Please provide me the complete information in detail... This is some thing urgent to one our customer.

Thanks
Venkat.

Ideally, you install Veeam Backup & Replication on-premises and deploy Veeam Backup for Azure via there so you have central management and a single entry point. From there, you can then use Veeam Backup for Azure to protect these workloads within Azure and store them on Azure Blob. Veeam Backup & Replication allow you to create backup copy jobs to on-premises to copy those backups to the local data center and have them ready in case of a disaster.

We do offer a free edition of Veeam Backup for Azure which allows you to protect up to 10 virtual machines. If you have more than 10, I would suggest contacting your local sales around which license to use for this and the correct amount.
