"Offsite" Azure Backup

Post by szwicker »

Sorry if this has been addressed. I tested Veeam for Azure a few years ago and liked it but I'm concerned about what happens if the entire Azure Tenant is compromised.
ie; Bad actor gets full Global Admin access and kicks everyone out and then deletes the Azure VMs.
I cannot restore as they're in the same site so I cannot get to them.

Also I'm an MSP, so I have multiple client sites to manage.

Is there a way I can back them (all of them) to Wasabi so they're completely out of the Azure ecosystem for safe keeping?

Hi Seth,

Yes, this is possible. You can integrate VB for Azure with VBR and use backup copy jobs to go to any other location like Wasabi.

So, I would need a single instance of Azure Backup and a second instance of Veeam Backup to send it offsite?

Yes, that's correct: one Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure and one Veeam Backup & Replication. Here is a bit more info on this > Creating Backup Copy Jobs
