[Feature Requests] periodic SQL Transaction log backup
Request to add the functionality (similar as in VB&R) to backup periodic SQL transaction logs (ex. each 15min) in the guest processing tab of the backup policy.

Hi Thierry,
Are you using SQL within a virtual machine or using native Azure SQL?

If you have classic SQL Servers running in Azure VMs, please install and use our Veeam Agent for Windows. This already provides such capability.

@nielsengelen, currently using both.
@gostev, i'm indeed aware that this is possible using the veeam agent, but will this be on the roadmap in next versions to have the same functionality as in VBR to have the option to do log truncation/processing from within the backup job? (without the use of the veeam agent)

Thanks for sharing the info. We are fully aware of the request and we are looking into potential solutions which could cover both of these for future releases.
As Anton stated, we already have a solution via agents for virtual machines. Azure SQL is another story and also depends on capabilities we can utilise via API's created by Microsoft.

Re: [Feature Requests] periodic SQL Transaction log backup
This functionality would require installing some agent in the VM... but we already have such an agent. So the roadmap is to make these existing agents easier to use in public cloud environments - rather than creating yet another, separate agentthierry.boeckx1 wrote: ↑Oct 13, 2021 10:48 am@gostev, i'm indeed aware that this is possible using the veeam agent, but will this be on the roadmap in next versions to have the same functionality as in VBR to have the option to do log truncation/processing from within the backup job? So my recommendation above is sort of a "future-proof" approach.
