Backup size per organization

Post by peturarna » Jan 30, 2017 2:51 pm

Is there a way to get backup size per organization in the Veeam Office 365 backup? We are a service provider running Veeam Office 365 backup for testing purposes, and being able to bill according to backup size per customer is a key point for us.

Hi Petur,

In all honesty, at this moment the solution is not really ready for Service Providers but we do hear you all loud and clear. We are thinking and studying ways of making it service provider friendly in the future and this indeed is something that would be needed. I assume that you will charge per MB / GB / TB as a provider? Or are you planning on charging per user?

What other information would you be interested in to share with your tenants or to do billing against

Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike and thanks for the reply. We would be charging per GB as a provider, but it would be preferred to have reports about individual backup sizes and growth per mailbox, mostly for the customer. Perhaps this could be integrated into Veeam One. Performance of the Veeam Office 365 backup looks really good after our initial tests and it is giving us much better results than our current product, so we would really like to see this implemented in the near future so we can switch our Office 365 backups to Veeam.

Petur,

Did you already looked at the Veeam Availability Console? The reason I ask is because this might be also a good candidate to put the reporting in. This automatically gives your tenant a dedicated portal and he / she would be able to see the necessary data.

thanks

Yes, the Veeam Availability Console would be a good candidate for the reports. Looking forward to see the next steps from Veeam regarding Office 365 backups, product looks good and more functionality will definately make it better.

Mike - if there is any workaround to do this please let me know. If it would be possible to pull the size of the backups from the database for example. We are impressed with the speed an simplicity of the Veeam Office 365 backups and if the backup sizes can be pulled from the system we might put it into production.

Petur,

I'm a bit confused. (might be the flight hours I just had ;-)). Are you willing to see the backup sizes per incremental? Or the total size of the database (per database in case we support multiple repositories)?

Thanks
Mike

We would need to see the total backup size per organization, or size per database if multiple repositories will be supported. This is for billing purposes, so we can charge each customer on an individual basis. So if we can isolate database for each customer with different repositories that should be fine.

Ok. Now I understand it better. So you want to know exactly what each tenant is using in real-life as storage on your servers. Per database and/or per tenant. Correct?

OK. Thanks

Any other data you would like to see in a report (not promising though ;-))
