Delegating restore permissions by business unit

Post by dan.kennedy » 1 person likes this post

We have a potential customer who would like to split his backups by business unit and delegate the permission to restore backups to certain individuals within each unit.
He wants each business unit to only have visibility of their own data within the Veeam explorer.

I've had a play around with a demo tenant (creating separate backup jobs, setting "deny" mailbox access permissions etc.) but i'm always able to see all mailboxes within the organisation when running the restore.

Does anyone know if this possible within Veeam O365?

Currently, RBAC is not available within VBO365 and the only workaround for it is by leveraging the RESTful API and create something on your own.

[MERGED] Feature Request - Role Based Access

Post by glennda37 » 1 person likes this post

It would be good to see role based access control in O365 backup similar to in VBR.

It would be useful to have the ability to delegate the ability to do item level restores for Exchange Online/SharePoint etc to the support teams, rather than require the backup team to perform restores.

It would also be good in the restorer role to be granular per service.

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

I merged your RBAC request to an existing thread. Nothing has changed so far, but take your request as noted.

Best regards,
Hannes
