incremental backup

Post by Dev2018 »

Hi,
I see that "Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 Community Edition" always makes incremental backups (a month has gone by now).
I can't understand how to do a Full Backup.
Any suggestions?
Do I always have to uninstall everything and reinstall?
Thanks for support

Hello,
the concept of "full backup" does not exist as it makes no sense for this kind of product. It would just be a massive waste of disk space.

What do you try to achieve?

Best regards,

after 6 months I will have 180 incremental. It's normal? Or do I have to make other settings?
Now I have a virtual server that takes care of the backup.
Thank you

This is normal, VBO will make a full backup first and afterward always incrementals as there is no need to sync the full mailbox/site/onedrive account.

Hello,
what happens to the backup if an incremental point is damaged?
e.g. on day 123 an incremental point is damaged, is a complete restore possible on day 124?

thanks for support

Hi,

You can only restore data that does not rely on corrupted restore points. If you run a backup job (retry) after the damaged restore point, you will be able to recover from that new point.

Thanks!

Hi,
Does Offiice 365 Backup have a health check like normal backup jobs from VB&R? If not, how can it be checked that the incremental chain is not damaged?
Thanks

Hi Niko,

To make sure we're on the same page: There're no "regular" backup files like in VBR; VBO stores backups to a JET database, and instead of health checks, it relies on the database state.

If you want to check the database state manually, you can use the esentutl tool (C:\Windows\System32\).

Thanks!
