Invalid Exchange Server version

Hi guys, since a couple of days I'm getting this error on different tenants and different backup Servers:

Processing mailbox xxx failed with error: Invalid Exchange Server version

I'm running Veeam Backup for Office 365 release 1.0.0.912

This issue has been already reported to Veeam Support?

We are also experiencing this issue, started yesterday. Same log message and application version as OP. Not all mailboxes fail, yesterday we had 4 failed today we have 10.

Same issue mine slowly got worse and now none of my boxes are backing up. I have not opened a case yet.

Hi All, it looks like the version of backend Exchange servers in Office 365 has been quietly changed by Microsoft. Dev team is aware of this issue and is working towards the resolution.

I can confirm that the solution of support (change dll) works.
For people who haven't had issues yet, I guess they'll get it past testing in a few days and have a public available upgrade.

Pretty sure EVERYONE needs this fix.. I can't even add an O365 organization without getting this error!

I've got an updated DLL from Veeam Support, after a quick and dirty check seems to solve the issue.

I'll let you know tomorrow after all my customers backups

Hi all,

We have had the same issue the 24th of August. After a case with veeam we got the following solution:

1.stop all the jobs
2.stop “Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 Service”
3.replace Veeam.Ews.dll with the DLL from the archive in C:\Program Files\Veeam\Backup365 (don't forget to back up the original DLL)
4.start “Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 Service”
5. retry the job

Seeing the same thing. Two of my 91 mailboxes started failing yesterday morning, and have been consistently failing ever since. I'm up to 7 out of 91 failing now.

I just opened Case # 02296852
