Multi-Tenancy

Post by alexh » Oct 24, 2016 3:19 pm

We've been trying out the beta, and we're pretty happy with the core backup and restore functionality. We're an MSP with multiple clients who have separate Office 365 subscriptions, so it would be nice to see some multi-tenancy features like multiple repositories, and separate backup sets per job or organisation. Is anything along these lines planned for the general release?

Thanks!

Alex,

As Joe states, this won't be in version 1.0. But we are aware that MSP's and SP's would love to offer this to customers. The question from our side would rather be how you would see this fit for your organization (so Imagine you get the change to design it ;-))

* Connecting to the subscription: Through some sort of portal? Embedded in your own portal with API calls to our solution?
* How do you expect end-users to restore from their data? Through a helpdesk / service desk support call? Again through a portal (own portal, Veeam provided portal...)
* If we are talking about multiple repositories, how do you see that? Multiple repositories PER o365 server? Or somewhere some sort of ENTERPRISE MANAGER on top of different Veeam O365 installations and let the software intelligently loadbalance things?
* How do you expect to price it? Per user? # of storage used? ...
* ...

If you could tell us how you would see something like this fit into your MSP environment, that would be very helpful!

Thanks
Mike

Thanks for the responses guys!

We could see it going one of two ways. It could be like Cloud Connect where we can set up a BaaS platform, and we can give customers accounts with storage presented to them. Alternatively, we could use it similarly to how you can use Veeam B&R in our hosting environment. The client has no access to the system, it is all configured and managed by our team. We would still want to be able to have separate backup sets per client for information security, or in case we want to archive them. In this case any restore requests would be logged as tickets with us, for our staff to carry out.
Either way, I'd say multiple repositories per o365 server is important, we like how Veeam B&R handles multiple repositories.
Our pricing for customers depends mainly on the licensing structure - if we're paying you per user, we're likely going to bill our clients per user. We'd also probably have a charge per GB/TB of storage as well, so reporting on that usage per organisation is key.

Thanks,

Alex
