Any word on this? We now have a legal matter where I have a hybrid mailbox with archive in O365 and primary mailbox on prem. I need to download a copy of the archives. It would sure be handy to get this going right about now.

Jonathan,

The fix is currently in testing so hopefully we have something next week.

I was out of the office for a week and returned today. I dropped in the private fix. This seems to have worked. It was able to enumerate the mailboxes, and I started a job running to back up one mailbox. Now I have a question about this. We are in a hybrid mode with the archive mailbox in O365 and the primary mailbox on prem. It appears to be processing the on prem mailbox (so far). Will it also connect to O365 and pull down the archive mailbox? I couldn't granularly choose to back up just the archive or just the primary mailbox, so I am uncertain yet what it will do.

Jonathan you have to add the archive mailboxes to the job the same way as you do with a regular mailbox, then they will be processed.

I can't. Because the archive mailboxes are in the O365 tenant space, they don't get enumerated by Veeam. It only enumerates complete mailboxes in the tenant space. I have about 6 or 7 test mailboxes there, and they show up.

Am I missing something, or is there a switch I have to enable to find archive mailboxes?

Probably stupid question but did you added the O365 organization to the UI?

Yes. I did the hybrid configuration. See earlier discussion in this topic. So what I get right now with hybrid configuration is a list of all on-prem mailboxes as well as the few test mailboxes that are in the cloud. I don't see that Veeam enumerates archive mailboxes separately, but if I back up the on-prem mailbox, it does not include the O365-based archive.

Jonathan,

Can you PM me a screenshot of the enumeration? We just tested this and we actually can see both without an issue

Thanks

I have also been waiting for the ability to backup hybrid mailboxes, where the primary is on-premise and the archive is offloaded to the cloud (Exchange Online Archiving).

Is it possible to get the latest fix so I can also test this with Veeam Office 365 backup?

This would be an extremely beneficial feature for us - to be able to backup those archive-only mailboxes that sit in the cloud with Veeam O365 Backup and use Veeam BR9 for on-premise Exchange mailboxes :)

Hey Cerberus,

Doesn't it work with the beta of 1.5 today? We are investigating the above problem but in our environments it actually works

I'm setting up a lab machine with VO365 beta 1.5 and have connected to an on-prem 2010 exchange server.

Also, getting the "A Parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name 'PublicFolder'" when I try to enumerate the mailboxes to select what to backup.

If there's a fix for that I'd be keen to try it.

Thanks
Nathan

Nathan,

Let me check. In the beta we do not support 2010 (only 2013 and 2016) but if I am not mistaken we found a solution for that, and we will support it in GA. But let me confirm first and I will let you know

Nathan,

I did make a mistake. We will not support public folders in exchange 2010 on-prem. However, we do have a fix that allows you to test it with exchange 2010 without the public folders

I don't want to backup public folders, they are not even used. just want to be able to select mailboxes.
