ENHANCEMENT REQUEST - SharePoint Lists NEED multithreaded backup

Post by AlexHeylin » 1 person likes this post

Incremental backups currently use one thread per SharePoint List. This needs to be rewritten to use all threads available on the proxy.

For us this causes MUCH worse problems than throttling. This is not a configuration issue, this is a code design improvement. Without this VBO cannot possibly scale to meet our requirements where SharePoint is being used for file storage, which is a common scenario.

As currently written, even a small tenant can move some files around and cause their backup to instead of completing in 20 mins as normal - instead it will fail to backup within 20 days.
See post431405.html , support case 05013518 and support case 05139337 for more details.

Edit: corrected to refer to SP Lists, not SP sites which do use multiple threads.

I would also like to highly encourage better thread usage. Multi TB Sharepoint sites are very common for customers and Veeam has to be better at these heavy Sharepoint workloads.

Hi all,

This feature request is already noted and on our list of items to do. I cannot give any ETA for the moment, but it will get into the product
