Idea: Add a process to initiate a full scan of an object into the backup

Post by gannon »

Issue: we've had a couple of instances whereby records in an object goes out of sync. There is no simple way to force a full backup refresh of an object when this is identified, it has to be moved to a custom schedule, SQL scripts run, etc.
Suggestion: it would be great if I could navigate to my objects and have a button that would say perform a full incremental backup.
What that means: move the object into its own custom schedule, reset the last load to the start of time, run the process, then return it to its previous schedule.
Justification: I love VBSF and how easy it is to manage, I do not like having to contact support and run scripts updating the configs to perform these things.

👍 Please like if you think this is a good idea, I'd love to see it incorporated into the core product.

Hello, @gannon
I think, we already have functionality which you're asking for. Please see "Object Fields Reload" option, which will allow to run one-time object backup without a need to change policy schedule. "Reload" option checks object backup for all period, not just since last policy start, which allows to identify any missing records.
In addition to that we have weekly "Validate" job will checks for deleted records.
Please let me know if that is what you're looking for. If not, then we'll create a backlog item.
Thank you.

This is great, I wasn't aware of how simple this was!
The only thing missing for me, is I would like to do the full reload once per week/fortnight/month.
There is currently no option for me to schedule this or to call it via any API as far as I am aware.
Thank you!!!
