New Salesforce accounts not listed while using restore/browse options

Post by sumeet »

Hi,

While testing with our client, new Salesforce accounts not listed while using restore/browse options.

The test accounts were created on 13th Feb and we have verified all looks fine from the account on salesforce, but VBSF will not list these test accounts.
We have looked at the backup job that ran on 13th Feb night and also the 14th that the Accounts lists thousands of insertions.

I have case# 07139082.

Unfortunately the case is opened as a evaluation license, but I have mentioned in the case with we have valid license for VBSF.

Thanks,
-Sumeet.

@sumeet when using the browse window, results are limited by 1000 results.
* Have you tried searching with filters?
* Can you ensure the backup user has read access to those records by record type?

Hi MIvanov,

Support asked to me use pgAdmin to connect and run query to check for the test account.
This listed the accounts, and then they too asked me to use filters and I was able to find the accounts.

I still do not understand, why the browse window does not list with the search option.
Like, when I use the browse window and list all the accounts, then use the search option for any names that are listed on the screen, then they get listed. But if I search for these test accounts (which are not listed by default on the screen), they do not show up.
Not sure I understand what you mean by results are limited by 1000 results - in my case there are only two test accounts. I understand that if my search result has a match for more than 1000 results, then only 1000 will be listed. But in my case, the search is only for two accounts.

Does this make sense, what I'm trying to accomplish?

The support still does not answer my question about why the accounts are listed when I use filter and not the default search.

My understanding of search is this - the default search lists everything that matches. For example, if I search 'foo', and the search results are in hunderds, then instead of going through these hundred items, I use filters to narrow down my search.
This is not the behavior in this search provided by VBSF. Here the default search does not show any value? This makes me feel that there is no match at all. If there are no match at all, why will I use the specific filter search.
I know support keeps pointing to a string in default search "No records found on this page. Try to apply search filters" - but why would I look at search filters, when the default search does not list anything.

Maybe the way search is been designed in VBSF is not correct or the way I understand search should work is not correct.

Search option on "Browse" pages works the same way as on "Restore" page: it only searches among records shown on current page. It's considered to be 2ndary way to refine result set, after data is filtered.

But i understand the confusion, we'll consider clarifying UI.
