VBSF v3 lists two consumed licenses

Post by sumeet »

Hi all,

Since our environment auto upgraded to v3, looking at things now to figure out what is changed.

One that catches my eye is the license. Now I see two categories Consumed (Salesforce users) and Consumed (Salesforce Platform users).

The documentation does not have more details about this. With version 2, there was only one entry Consumed (Salesforce users).

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... tml?ver=30

How is this now different?
Now the license that we have applied is less than the total of the above two category? Not sure how this impacts the license usage or what we purchased initially.

Please more details from Veeam team will help.
I do not have a case for this yet.

Thanks,
-Sumeet.

Thanks for the question and great to hear you noticed that!

Indeed, there is a new type of Salesforce license that product tracks and it will become a license requirement in future, total number of active licenses would have to be licensed,
but not today!

The business team will decide on how to proceed, but I would expect them to grant all existing contacts free licenses to offset the cost difference until the renewal date, so, it is always good to have a multi-year contract, in my opinion.

The product now only shows the counter but does not enforce, it is counted separately.

Thanks for your reply. Apologies for the delay in getting as I was away for few weeks.

We have to renew our licenses in 3 weeks and do not think we have sufficient time to discuss with our client about this change in active licenses and the additional cost involved.
The auto upgrade to v3 (which has been fixed now, so should be taken care for future major version upgrades) that the product performed, has left us with less options to figure the new changes and how it will impact us.
