About Retention Policy
I have a backup copy job going to a cloud repo, but we've got 191.3 GB / 3.5 TB available. It's set for reverse incremental mode. We have it set to 3 restore points, and currently most of the VMs being backed up have 3 restore points. Will veeam kill the oldest chain so there's room? Is there something I am missing or I should be doing differently?

Re: About Retention Policy
Yes, assuming all VMs have 3 restore points created by now, at this point the remaining free space should remain pretty static (unless you will have some unusually big changes in the source VM disks). I would subscribe to some more cloud repository disk space, just to be on the safe side (especially if your provider charges for used space, and not for provisioned space). Thanks!

Re: About Retention Policy
Thanks a lot Gostev - I have learned a bit more about this - for some reason veeam cant remove the older backup chains - the error is: "Failed to generate points Error: Unable to remove backup file by retention policy, because it still contains restore points"
The backup copy job has a max of 3 restore points while some VMs have 4 points. The job it is copying (local to disk) has 7 points. What am I doing wrong?

Is it safe to delete the .vrb's and then go from there? (.vbk seems to be the full backup) : http://puu.sh/gPrcH/dc0249c684.png

Re: About Retention Policy
It is safe to remove older VRB files, however I don't think this will help to address the issue with the backup copy job. I would recommend to contact support and review job logs with them.

[MERGED] Error message - unclear why this happens.
Hi,
Backup copy job error below. The job has copied all the VMs, but at the end of the job I get this message.
08/05/2015 05:28:50 :: Failed to generate points Error: Unable to remove backup file by retention policy, because it still contains restore points
It kind of makes sense as we are keeping 10 local copies, with GFS, so obviously it will still be in use, but its an error highlighted in red, so unsure.
Singy

Andrew, do you have Update 2 for Veeam B&R v8 installed?
