About the max size of Repository

Post by brighton0725 »

Hello

I will implement Backup Repository by Windows 2019 and format a disk of the repository by ReFS.
Volume size will be 400TB

The max volume size of ReFS is 35PB in the following site.

https://docs.microsoft.com/ja-jp/window ... s-overview

How about the max size of Veeam Backup Repository?

Does it depend on the max volume size of ReFS?

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

From a Veeam (software) perspective: we don't care, as long as the operating system (Windows) can handles the volume. From Veeam perspective, you can do any size - but probably not from Windows point of view.

400TB sounds good. It became common size for the high density servers. Some customers are more conservative ans use smaller sizes 64TB, 128TB (usually those who had issues with block cloning in the early days).

https://bp.veeam.com/vbr/VBP/3_Build_st ... block.html mentions 200TB (which is mainly for easier handling in case of evacuations and also because of block cloning issues in the early days)

Best regards,
Hannes

Hannes-san

Thank you for your comment.

The site you showed is very useful for me.
I will consider that the volume size is less than 200TB.
