Account membership to run Exchange

Post by trackstar »

Hello,

Been using Veeam for a while. The Exchange 2010 backup has been running under my account (credential). I like to create an account dedicate for this task. What is the minimum privileges for an account to run a backup for Exchange 2010?

For Active Backup, I have a dedicated account that has Domain Admins & Enterprise Admins.

Thanks ahead.

TT

Hello,

In order to do application-aware image backups (leverage VSS), you should be using local admin account on the Exchange VM. Also please consider these permissions for SQL Server > Latest Patch broke transaction log truncation

As to using restore capabilities, then please look through this topic > How to restore a mailbox without needing the users passw

Thank you!

Thanks. I meant for Active Directory Backup, I have a dedicated account that has Domain Admins & Enterprise Admins.

So I am assuming Domain Admins will also work with the Exchange backup.

Yes, any account belonging to local admin group on Exchange server should be sufficient.
