Active Full Backup size?
Hi All,
If i was to create a active full backup task based on the following size of vm's how big is my backup file going to be?
vm1 380gb
vm2 661gb
vm3 40gb
vm4 152gb
vm5 1.5TB
Is it going to be a full 2.7 TB in size? As we only have 1.49TB left available on the drive it is backing up to in question.
As this is a forward incremental job running once a week. This is the first time we are going to potentially do a full active since the first run which was back in november 2015.

You can check the first full, depending on dedupe / compression and how much data is actually used on the vm's you could be lucky...
Buy some more discs would be the beer option however

Hi Ben, typical data reduction is at least 50% (provided optimal compression is used), so you can take it as a basis for your space estimations.

Re: Active Full Backup size?
Hi Ben,
Compression effectiveness mostly depends on file types and amount of dirty data blocks contained on VMs.
For example, databases in general contain text information in this case data reduction will be huge.
Please see useful information about "Dirty Blocks" here.
Thanks!
