Active full for single asset in copy job

Post by TitaniumCoder477 »

SITUATION
I have a copy job to cloud connect w/ 7 assets.
The cloud connect target is configured w/ per-machine backup files, so each asset in the job has its own backup chain.
There is only one VBM file.

NEED
I need to run an Active Full for just one of the assets. This does not appear to be an option, so I am wondering about the viability of this workaround.

WORKAROUND
1. Exclude all assets from the copy job except the one in question
2. Run an Active Full manually
3. Remove the exclusions

I can imagine two possible outcomes:

Favorable outcome: The other assets continue their original incremental chain without any issue. The lone asset continues the new chain on the brand new full backup.
Unfavorable outcome: The other assets automatically run a full backup since they missed the Active Full backup.

Which will be the actual outcome?

An alternative solution, pull the required VM out of the job and put it into its own job. Active full will happen by default, and the original job will proceed as always - just not processing the removed VM. You can clean up the backups manually once the retention on the new job meets your requirements.
