Active Fulls and Replication

Post by dschuler »

I am sure i am overlooking it somewhere but I can't find an answer to this in the documentation or elsewhere on the forum.

Due to the Synthetic Full task taking an excessive amount of time we want to switch to just doing Active Fulls on a 1.5TB server every weekend. But this server is replicated out to our DR site using Veeam B&R. If we do an Active Full will it replicate the new Full out or no?

Thanks,
Dann

Hi Dann, active full on the backup job will not affect other replication/backup/backup copy jobs involving the same VM (unless it is a backup copy between StoreOnce devices, which I guess is not).

Hi foggy,
Thanks for the reply. Once this Synthetic Full completes in a few days we will switch it to Active Full and see how it goes.

Thanks,
Dann

Btw, the best practice these days is to go with a forever forward incremental and not do any periodic fulls at all. Any particular reason why do you need them?
