Today a client had an issue after recovering a Domain controller from a backup last week.
I didnt personally handle the issue but I'm Told that if we had a system state backup of the VM we would have been better off then restoring from a Veeam backup because of issues with USN's
Microsoft describes the problem in this article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/875495
How does Veeam expect to get around this issue ?

Re: AD Controller System State Issue
This is what our Application Aware Image Processing feature is designed for.
If you backup DC with this option enabled, then you will have zero problems recovering this DC backup into production. On the other hand, having DC backup that was done without this option enabled is naturally worse than having no DC backup at all. Restoring such backup will not only fail to recover your DC, but it will also mess up your Active Directory. And healing AD from USN rollback is quite long, multi-step procedure...
