Suppose you add a new VM to an existing forward incremental backup job with a weekly synthetic full.
Since this new VM has never been backed up I presume that the backup of this new VM is full not incremental since Veeam has no prior context.
Is this correct?
I trying to come up with a simple explanation when I'm asked.

Re: Add New VM to Existing Backup Job - What Happens
With Per-VM chain there will be a full backup for that VM.

And in the case where per-VM backup chains are not enabled, the full backup for that VM will be written in the incremental file (VIB).
